Kai from Digitalrev takes a look at this super zoom from Sony. The zoom range sounds great but how will it fair with this hands on review?

PROs:
Bokeh not too horrendous at all sharpness is good in the center, it performs well enough and “Great all in one lens for travel and good enough if you wanna photograph a sheep with poo stuck to their bum” according to Kai.

Also we’d add that you could definitely capture footage of a bear rolling down a hill in Denali National Park, which seems to be the new bear hype nowadays.

CONs:
Softish on the edges, significant amount of flare, autofocus…not that quick, minimum focus distance…not that close, just a bit dull. Kai seemed very unimpressed about the new Sony 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3.

This is the third episode in a row filmed in the UK so we can’t help but wonder if the lens would have seemed as dull if the review was done in Hong Kong instead.

If you’re looking for something All Right At A Little Bit Of Everything, this might be the lens for you BUT the Sony 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 retails at $973.00 which is quite a lot considering its capability.

Would you buy this lens for your Sony system?
