According to wikipedia this was attributed to the philosopher Socrates and the sense was that the only real wisdom is knowing you know nothing
To me it’s a beautiful concept used by teachers to make their pupils understand that the only way they can learn something is accepting they know nothing about it.
Doing so, their minds can fully absorb any information thrown at them and also most important that they pay attention to every little detail their they are entrusted with.
The concept of knowing nothing else than the fact that you do not know anything may be very hard to grasp when first heard so I’ll tell you a little secret a friend of mine shared with me a few years ago. Think of what this concept makes you feel or what do you understand when you hear it.
I guarantee that when you understand this concept you’ll get a big smile on your face.
Till next time, when in doubt…smile!

mind can always absorb. and the concept of knowing nothing is grasping. but you would have to experience before people start to understand.

Is the secret “Ignorance is Bliss”?
I do agree that, if we think we know everything, we will not open our minds to new ideas, or won't be accepting of them. I also feel that people shouldn't just believe someone's views just because they are famous or rich. It would really help if people did their own research on things and make up their own minds.

I think that humility should be a bigger part of education. Knowing that you know nothing about something, and that learning something new isn't that hard, would help our young kids.

Now what is the message there? The message is that there are known “knowns.” There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.- Donald Rumsfeld, 2002, justifying the case for invading Iraq
